  1. Candidates should be aware of the fact that the original ECA report should be issued by designated agencies on or after the date of getting recognition by Canadian authorities. Candidates have to get ECA reports re-issued if they get ECA report before the date of getting recognition by Canadian authorities.

  2. To file the ECA report, it is important to know what educational credential assessment (ECA) is all about. It comprises all your educational credentials such as the degrees, certificates, diplomas and several other kinds of academic credentials. Also, a proper background check of the university is conducted to ascertain the authenticity of the program.

  3. In order to migrate to Canada, a candidate has to get its ECA processed. ECA or Education Credential Assessment is an extremely crucial step to applying for certain immigration, refugees and citizenship Canada (IRCC) programs. It is used for examining the validity of one’s degrees, diplomas or certificates, etc. The processing time for ECA in Canada can take up to a month or more than that. Depending on the organization from where you are getting your ECA processed, the time for processing varies from months to weeks.

  4. Educational Credential Assessment i.e ECA of the highest degree should be enough but it is highly recommended that all the documents are sent for evaluation even the secondary and higher secondary documents. It is checked through authorities like World Education Services -WES. There have been cases where the bachelor’s degree was recognized but Master’s degree was not recognized. Sometimes a Master’s degree also has the valuation of a bachelor’s degree as per Canadian Standards.

  5. This post helped me to understand what Educational Credential Assessment is all about. So, the ECA is involved in testifying the qualifications done by person. Accordingly, we need to compile our qualifications, degrees, diplomas, etc. to create a comprehensive ECA report! Thank you…

  6. When we talk about ECA i.e Educational Credential Assessment, it is simply a report issued by various authorised agencies of Canada which recognizes the validity of your degree, diploma, certificate, and confirms it being equal to a Canadian one; but it does not assure you a job at your field or a license to practise in a modulated job. Obtaining a license in the territory that you plan to settle in, is obligatory, to work in a regulated job.

Generally, only your highest level of education needs to be assessed. For instance, if you have a post-graduation degree, your graduation degree would not need an assessment.
